Sundy House properties sell for $17.2 million
Delray Beach’s historic Sundy House hotel, restaurant and gardens, along with several downtown historic properties, sold Monday to a real estate partnership for $17,150,000.
Plans are to keep the Sundy House on Swinton Avenue as is but expand its banquet, catering and brunch business, said Steven Michael, principal of Delray Beach based Hudson Holdings. Hudson Holdings purchased the property with Marshall Florida Holdings.
Longtime Delray Beach investor Tom Worrell owned the Sundy House and nearby parcels in and around Swinton Avenue. Other properties purchased in the 5 acre portfolio include The Rectory, built around 1912 and located at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and Swinton Avenue; and the Cathcart House, built in 1903 and located on Swinton Avenue.
Plans are to develop the properties into shops, offices and a hotel. Michael pledged to remain “sensitive to the historic district” and develop the properties with the input of the community.
